"I began my seagoing career as a Cadet on a very busy feeder line in the Caribbean Sea, with foreseeable opportunities for growth within the company. I have been offered new challenges many times and have had the chance to sail to new horizons as a Navigational Officer. Currently, I am applying my seafaring experience to improving training opportunities for my colleagues onboard, working in the Training Department. I am looking forward to the day when I will sail again under the Harren flag."

"I’m very happy to have been with the Harren Group since I started as a trainee back in 2009. My career was literally born here, and since then, I haven’t felt the need to leave the mother’s nest for a number of reasons. Harren Group gave me an opportunity to have a career at sea, which was significant since there weren’t many opportunities for Jamaican seafarers, especially those from non-maritime backgrounds. For this, I am grateful. Working onboard the vessels, I felt safe because everyone was professional and worked together as a team. Even though I come from a different ethnic group, I wasn't treated differently or discriminated against, unlike what I’ve heard from colleagues in other companies. I received equal wages, flexible work/leave arrangements, training, and opportunities to grow in my career. Harren Group is a company that truly cares about its workers. For instance, I received assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic when I was stuck at home without an income. I have seen the company also provide assistance to crew members affected by the Russia-Ukraine war. Here at Harren Group, I feel like family—a 'home away from home.' I don’t feel like just a simple employee or a name on paper. I remember my first visit to the office in 2020; the warm welcome I received was unparalleled. People who I was meeting for the first time, some of whose names I didn’t even know, knew exactly who I was and welcomed me like family. These are things you really can't put a price on. I have met lifelong friends here of various nationalities, which reminds me of the Jamaican motto, 'Out of many, one people.' My career started here, and I have no doubt that it will finish here."
